Happy Kin-iversary! Get to know some of our most seasoned Kin

Our Kin make us. Colleagues that champion our goals, push boundaries and support our people are the heart of our organization. We couldn’t do what we do without them. But did you know that many of our Kin have been part of the fabric of our business for well over a decade (and in some cases much longer)?

This year we celebrate a whole host of 15+ year Kin-iversaries, and we thought it was a great opportunity to get to know some of our most seasoned colleagues a little better. We asked them about their careers, what they love about working here and how they have grown through their time at Kin + Carta. Explore highlights from those conversations, below.

What’s kept you at Kin + Carta so long?

“It's simply the people. I get to work with interesting, intelligent, caring, and beautiful humans every single day. We have a largely similar mindset about life, the universe, and everything, and it makes the days largely enjoyable.” Kathryn Thompson - Lead Data Engineer (15 years)

“We've traveled from Bradford to Bogotá and from paperbacks to generative AI. To be part of that corporate transformation has kept it challenging and stimulating. That we managed to do it all feels remarkable.” Mike Gallagher - Deputy Group CFO (16 years)

"The business always provided me with the next opportunity to learn, grow, and get to the next challenge. I’ve had exceptional mentors and managers over my time.” Alex Detrois - CFO, Europe (15 years)

What’s the most impactful thing you’ve learned in your time here?

"The most impactful thing I've learned is that true authenticity is key to happiness. Being able to bring your true self to work without feeling the need to hide makes the working day much easier.” Kathryn Thompson - Lead Data Engineer (15 years)

“That listening is more important than talking.” Gary Arnold - Data Strategy Director (18 years)

“To be able to react to change and a fast-paced environment.” Daniel Fattal - Group Company Secretary (15 years)

“Servant leadership… It’s not about making me look good – but helping others look good.” James Suart - Senior Consultant (18 years)

How were you able to continue growing your career at Kin + Carta?

“I started as a junior programmer, moved into business analysis, dabbled in solution architecture, flirted with growth, and ultimately found my happy place in consulting when I realized I was more about the 'Why' and 'How' than I was about the 'What'. Along that path, I have led teams, led a company, and benefited from great leadership and coaching. K+C provided a great environment for me to try different things and learn valuable lessons. I have never felt pigeonholed or constrained.” Gary Arnold - Data Strategy Director (18 years)

"Following my curiosity and leaning into the opportunities presented to me. Professional growth doesn't always look like you think it will. If you have a growth mindset you can turn any door that opens into career progression. Do things well, bring a good attitude, leave your ego at the door, and that opens more doors.” Kelly Manthey - Global CEO (17 years)

“My journey has been a rich one and I now have lots more wisdom to offer as we scale out Kin + Carta globally.” James Suart - Senior Consultant (18 years)

What is your favorite memory of working at Kin + Carta?

"I've loved being part of the growth journey of the people around me. Seeing interns become leaders in the organization, seeing the new people who have joined the company bring new ways of thinking. I love being part of a global business and having the opportunity to experience and gain a new appreciation for different cultures.” Kelly Manthey - Global CEO (17 years)

“There are too many to single one out, but they're always centered around being with groups of my colleagues, experiencing something new, fun, or challenging together. Many times outside of normal working hours: the business trips, the lunches and dinners.” Eric Rosenzweig - Managing Director, Financial Services (15 years)

“Seeing talented people that I've been lucky to recruit develop and grow in their careers, both within Kin + Carta and elsewhere.” Mike Gallagher - Deputy Group CFO (16 years)

What advice would you have given your younger self earlier in your career?

"Zoom out. It’s easy early on to get excited or overwhelmed by the next challenge. Take two minutes to pause, reflect on the achievements and what needs to be done next.” Alex Detrois - CFO, Europe (15 years)

“Trust your judgment and go for it.” Daniel Fattal - Group Company Secretary (15 years)

“Do not be afraid to try new skills and challenge yourself as learning is a lifelong process.”  Assurance leader (15+ years)

“Career-wise, stay the course. I have been happy with how things turned out.” Adaptability leader (15+ years)

“You've got this.” Kelly Manthey - Global CEO (17 years)
